Visiting Goldeman’s Greenhouse
You’re not walking through a parking-lot display of plants trucked up from Texas. You’re walking through seven working greenhouses — about 17,000 square feet — where everything was seeded, potted and grown by our family. If a plant looks good on the bench, it’s because it was grown twenty feet from where you’re standing.

What’s ready when
The single most useful thing to know before you drive out. Our greenhouse changes week to week — come at the right moment and you get the pick of the benches.

| Late April | Pansies, violas and other cool-season color that shrugs off a frost. Onion sets, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower starts, early herbs. |
| Early May | Hanging baskets at their fullest before they’ve been picked over. Perennials waking up. |
| Mother’s Day weekend | Our busiest days of the year. Beautiful, but come early in the day if you want elbow room. |
| Mid–late May | After the frost date: tomatoes, peppers, and the tender annuals. The main planting window for most of the metro. |
| June | Quieter, and a good time to fill gaps or restart a container that didn’t work out. |
| September–October | Mums, asters, flowering kale and cabbage, ornamental peppers and grasses for fall pots. |
Getting here
We’re in East Bethel, in the northern part of Anoka County. Highway 65 runs north–south through town and Viking Boulevard (County Road 22) runs east–west — those are the two roads most people navigate by. The greenhouses are on Durant St NE, near 224th Ave NE, and there’s room to park right by the benches.
From the south — Blaine, Ham Lake, Coon Rapids, Anoka, Andover
Highway 65 north is the straight run and the one we’d recommend. Ham Lake sits about seven miles south of us and Blaine about thirteen, roughly a fifteen-minute drive. Coon Rapids and Anoka are around seventeen to eighteen miles, Andover a little closer coming up through Ham Lake. Stay on 65 to Viking Boulevard and turn east.
From the north — Isanti, Cambridge, Bethel, Braham
Same road, other direction. Isanti is about fourteen miles south of us on Highway 65, a quarter of an hour; Cambridge is about nineteen. Bethel is close enough to be a neighbor — it’s the halfway point between us and Isanti.
From the east — Forest Lake, Wyoming, Stacy, Linwood
Viking Boulevard west is the direct line. Forest Lake is about fifteen miles and takes closer to twenty-five minutes than the mileage suggests, since it’s county roads rather than highway the whole way. Stacy is a similar distance north-east of us.
From the west — Oak Grove, St. Francis, Ramsey, Elk River
Viking Boulevard east brings you straight across. Oak Grove borders us, St. Francis sits north-west, and Ramsey and Elk River are around seventeen to nineteen miles by way of Highway 10 or Viking.
Central Minneapolis is about 26 miles south-east. If you’re coming any distance, it’s worth a call to (763) 742-8774 first — we’ll tell you what’s actually looking good that week.
Before you come
- Check what’s in bloom. Our plant list has every variety we grow — over a thousand of them — and the plant picker narrows it to what suits your sun, your soil and your deer situation.
- Build a list first. Tap the beside anything on the plant list to save it to your list, then print it or email it to yourself. Hand it to us when you arrive and we’ll walk the benches with you.
- Call ahead for anything specific. Availability moves daily in season. One phone call saves a wasted drive: (763) 742-8774.
- No need to bring a box. We have boxes and flats here for you, so your plants ride home upright and packed snug. An old towel in the trunk still saves a cleanup.
